Bungalow Redo Week 3
Things are hopping on Starnes Avenue and never have I loved the sight of a dumpster quite so much:

Project Manager Billy Ray (should I worry that this man is in charge?):

We’ve barely started and I’ve already procured most of my plumbing and lighting fixtures. What can I say? I’m a little eager!
I’ve also been putting forth a MIGHTY effort to stay within, oh who am I kidding, close to my budget allowances. I have to say, I’ve been doing a pretty good job thanks to super sleuthing with local and web purchases.
On that note, I feel like I’m sort of turning into my father – the consummate penny squeezer. Let me interrupt house talk here for an illustration.
Around the time I was six years old, youth soccer was sweeping the nation and I thought I’d take a stab. Now, I’m one of the least competitive people you will ever meet….I do not want to be responsible for a ball when a team’s score is involved. I think my dad sort of knew this, and didn’t feel the need to splurge on official shin guards. So, instead, he cuts up an old Duraflame cardboard box into shin guard- shaped pieces, balls up newspaper to glue on the inside and VOILA! free, homemade shin guards that stick out from my shins about, oh, three inches. The ensuing mortification, and lack of skill, cut my soccer career short. Don’t worry; I think this was a good thing. Such shrewdness is now coming in handy!
Back to my lighting choices.

1. www.rejuvenation.com 2. www.schoolhouseelectric.com 3. www.rejuvenation.com 4. www.bellacor.com 5. www.bellacor.com 6. www.bellacor.com 7. www.bellacor.com 8. www.rejuvenation.com
I decided to go with a couple of online sources for the nuts and bolts lighting….the fixtures that aren’t necessarily the center pieces of the room. Two sources that I LOVE for period appropriate fixtures are: www.rejuvenation.com and www.schoolhouseelectric.com. Rejuvenation has the added benefit of a snazzy feature that lets you enter the dimensions of your room to check the scale of the fixture.
For the really bargain basement lighting, I went to www.bellacor.com, a site that was running some great sales and has a HUGE variety of styles.
I’m still shopping locally for my centerpiece fixtures….will keep you posted!
