Progress Report

I know everyone loves before and after shots.  Clearly, we’re not there yet, but I can give you some before and midway-through pictures.

So, here’s what we’ve been up to:

·         Replaced roofing.

·         Scraped and primed.

·         Replaced saggy front porch board.

·         Replaced damaged front porch planks.

·         Replaced damaged wood on exterior corner.

·         Removed wall between kitchen and dining room.  Before you get all hot and bothered about taking out a wall in an old house, the kitchen is not original to the house so I don’t think it really counts.

·         Walling off closet door into dining room and opening it to bedroom next door.

·         Removed damaged ceiling in kitchen.

·         Braced ceiling between kitchen and dining room.

·         Removed concrete hearths to prevent sagging in floor and ceiling.  Will be replaced and tiled so that hearth is flush with floor.  I don’t have an after for this, but trust me, they’re gone.

·         Removed drywall in downstairs bedroom to reveal cool column of brick.

·         Bringing all pass-throughs in the house to a uniform height and finishing them out with a broken arch detail.

So, all this, in addition to the removal of icky carpet, rusty swing sets, fossilized possum bones, and the demo of both bathrooms.

Phew!  I’m exhausted.  Actually, I haven’t really lifted a finger on the work site, but I’ve thought about it a lot, and we all know how exhausting that can be.

Coming up….show and tell of plumbing fixtures.  I know you can’t wait!
