Exciting delivery today at Starnes Avenue! 1300 pounds of really really cool tile…which means it’s time for a bathroom break. Not that kind, I’m still here. The kind of bathroom break where we talk about the rest of my bathroom choices.
As I mentioned earlier, I was able to find some good deals on marble tiles online, so these bathrooms, and the kitchen backsplash for that matter, are getting pimped out fo shizzle. Sorry, I heard a Jay Z interview on Fresh Air yesterday and suddenly I think I’m qualified to get all jiggy. Clearly, if your primary exposure to JayZ is via Terry Gross, you probably shoudn’t try to adopt the lingo.
Anyhoo….here’s what we’ve got.

Carrera Marble basketweave with gray dots for the bathroom floors and Carrera Marble subway tiles for the shower surround. For the kitchen backsplash, statuary white marble in a herringbone pattern.
To be 100% honest, I wasn’t really sure what statuary white would look like, but I figured how wrong could I go? To be honest again, I kind of felt funny getting the exact same material, Carrera, for the bathroom and the kitchen. I mean, who wants to be thinking about the bathroom while marinating their pot roast in the kitchen. Anybody remember the Seinfeld where Kramer double tasks and washes his lettuce in the shower?
Exactly.
Here’s a smattering of what else you can expect in the bathrooms:

I’m thinking about getting that Restoration Hardware medicine cabinets, but it seems a bit pricey. Seems odd that medicine cabinets would be so high, but I’ve been living with a cheap one for a few years now and it’s not looking so hot, so I might just go ahead and take the plunge.
And, on another note, I wanted to give you a hint of the colors going up.

I’m not trying to be obtuse or artsy with this odd angle, but the whole thing isn’t painted yet, and this way you get a good overview. And, more importantly, you can see that the princesses have taken up residence in the front window, having been liberated from the port-a-john.
