I’ve already blathered on about my desire to “Sarah Richards” this flip, i.e. totally trick it out with furniture and other pretty things. My motivation for this is noble….most of the rooms in my portfolio are kitchens and I don’t just want to do kitchens.
Inevitably, clients might say initially that they want to work on the rest of the house after we finish their kitchen, but that’s kind of like saying, “After $30,000 worth of plastic surgery, I want to go earring shopping.”

(I do think my kitchen redos are more attractive than her plastic surgery, just to be clear.)
After writing those kitchen checks and enduring the gutting process, folks sort of run out of steam.
So, I figure this is a good opportunity to do a house as a whole with attention to continuity and all-over yumminess. Only problem is, not only will I have undergone plastic surgery by then, you can factor in a couple of virtual organ transplants too.
But I have to tell you, this whole dry-walling phase of the remodel is going on way too long, and it’s made my ebay finger really itchy. I’ve made a couple more non-essential decorative purchases, but I think both really help to advance my vision. (Feel totally free to stick your finger down your throat when I start using words like “my vision.” I do…figuratively speaking of course.)
So, let’s review this hole I continue to dig for myself:
Who doesn’t love bedding from Anthropologie?
I can thank my friend Carson Fustes for introducing me to the fact that ebay is a terrific source for all things Anthropologie. Who knew? Not me.
So, last night, I bought this set of queen size bedding that will go in the main bedroom (word to the wise, don’t go anywhere NEAR Anthropologie eBay when bored).
I do have to say, I got a deal though. I got the duvet cover, two Euro shams (VERY hard to find according to the auction description….seriously, VERY hard to find) and two standard shams for the price of a single duvet cover if I were to get it directly from Anthropologie.
I’m not usually one for matchy-matchy, and I’ve never decorated with birds, but I think I can make it work so it doesn’t look obnoxious. I’m looking to channel rooms like these, that are subtle but sunny. The birds won’t take over, I promise.

Back to the purchase…two of the shams aren’t so obviously from this collection, so I can possibly use these in another room.
The bedding is designed by New Orleans artist, Shelley Hesse, which I find interesting. Clearly, I’m their ideal customer….I eat their p.r. up like nobody’s business.
Looking at her website, I’m thinking the bedding will most directly reflect this piece:

I happen to think that’s quite beautiful, so I’m totally ok with that!
I’m also in the running for these two Anthropologie shams:

There’s three days left on this one, so I’ll just have to bite my nails. I’m going to put two twin beds in one of the downstairs bedrooms, and I figure I can build a “look” (another cringe inducing word, I know) with less expensive bedding around these two shams alone. Would make for a cute little girls’ room, I think.

Can you tell I’m really exciting about getting to the fluff? I mean plumbing, electrical and drywall is important and all, but let’s start making it pretty for heavens’ sake!
