Antonio’s Army of Artists: Simone Wilson

Oh good grief, I’m real bad at doing this regular like….let me restate: I’m really bad at writing this blog regularly.  Former English teachers have a hard time making fun with the language….no matter how much they hated their job.  I remember my mom saying that one of her pet peeves was people spelling things incorrectly to be cute….I think this was because of a “Kountry Kitchen” or some such.  These things stick with a girl.

Anyway, back to business.  I’m writing from a recliner in my swiss cheese house (read- house that lets in shafts of cold air during epic snowstorms) and am mucho excited to start telling you about the artists that are going to participate in the fundraiser.

Artist extraordinaire #1 is Simone Wilson.

Simone, originally a Georgia girl, is a self-taught painter, sculptor, found-object artiste who creates fabulous marionettes, among other things, out of scavenged materials.  Her work has been featured in the Sundance catalogue (you know, that little thing that Robert Redford puts out) and she sells in galleries across the Southeast.

Simone has recently branched out into creating custom garden gates.

Would that I had a garden worthy of one of these….unfortunately, a couple of years ago, my garden devolved into a place where dogs go to poop.  In one of God’s practical jokes, this is the one kind of animal poop not conducive to fertilizer….how on earth did I get on this topic?
